Practice Goal

By the end of this activity, you will be able to describe a family member using basic third-person grammar and simple personal information.

01

Grammar Focus

The Third Person Switch

To talk about another person, we change the verb and the possessive. Compare how we talk about ourselves and how we talk about him or her.

Topic Talking about me Talking about him / her
Name My name is... His name is... / Her name is...
Age I am... He is... / She is...
Quantity I have two children. He has... / She has...
Location I live in... He lives in... / She lives in...
Teacher's Tip

Remember: with he and she, many verbs add -s. Example: I live in Medellín. She lives in Medellín.
